2006

2006 Elf Renault Clio Cup

The performances of Tom Onslow-Cole not only gave him the drivers title but they also went some way to alerting the touring car world of his talent. At just 19 years old, Tom has secured a top BTCC drive with WSR in an s2000 spec BMW 320si. It was also the year that saw the last action of the Clio 182. 2007 will see an entire new line up of the latest Clio hot hatch model from Renault – the 197.

2005

2005 Elf Renault Clio Cup

2005 was a season of epic encounters between Ed Pead and Jonathan Adam, but it was Adam who finally managed to clinch the title at the penultimate event at Silverstone. A poor result for Pead in Round 17 meant that Adam could not be caught in the title race and the Scot was crowned champion.

2004

2004 Champion Paul Rivett

The 2004 season proved to be one of the closest championship battles ever. Going into the final meeting of the year at Donington Park, 3 drivers were in with a chance of taking the title, but it was decided in Round 19 when Jonathan Adam failed to finish and Ed Pead could only take a 3rd. That meant that the win for Paul Rivett guaranteed his 2nd regular championship victory to add to his 2002 honour.

The Entrants Championship also went down to the wire, with the Boulevard Team Racing squad just doing enough to fend off the challenges of Total Control Racing and SpeedEquipe.

The season also saw the tragic loss of Clio Cup favourite Kevin Lloyd. The 43 year old Brummie was killed in an accident at Thruxton in May. The BTCC support race paddock is definitley a much sadder place without him and he will never be forgotten.

2003

2003 actionJonathan Fildes took the title in a hard fought year that saw him fend off the challenges of frontrunners Ed Pead, Eoin Murray and Oli Wilkinson - a remarkable debut year for the Irishman. Daniel Buxton may well have featured as a candidate for the crown but his departure mid-season to take up full time BTCC duties with Team Halfords should in no way take away the credit that Jonathan deserves. The traditional winter series was also held at Donington Park and Croft circuit during the last weekend of October and the first weekend of November. Paul Rivett took the honours in comprehensive fashion, throwing down the gauntlet to those he would be facing in the 2004 main championship. 2002 Winter Series

Winter series podiumThe 2002 Clio winter series took place over two weekends in November at Donington Park and Brands Hatch. The field included Touring Car drivers Tom Ferrier and Tom Boardman as well as a number of Clio Cup regulars. Over the course of the two meetings, Ferrier took three out of four race victories, taking a 2nd place alongside these. This was enough to claim the title for Ferrier and Total Control Racing.

2002

2002 Champion Rivett 2002 was another bumper year for the Elf Clio Renaultsport UK Championship, with many of the familiar names from last year returning once again. There was action throughout the year with the championship being won by Team Firstairs Paul Rivett. Bintcliffe Sport Racing took the Entrants title in the final race of the season at Donington Park.
