| SPECIAL-RATE ENTRY BOOST FOR DTM SUPPORT RACE
Teams in Britain's most exciting manufacturer-backed racing championship the ELF Clio Renaultsport UK Cup are looking for new drivers to take part in the DTM support meeting at Donington Park on 25th/26th/27th July.
The championship organisers and the Clio Cup teams have agreed a plan to allow drivers to sample the series without the need to make a financial commitment to a whole season. They will also taking advantage of the event's double-header race status whilst sponsors will be seen at the country's biggest touring car meeting of the year on the DTM's only visit to the UK.
An exclusive Renault test day will be held at Donington Park on Tuesday, 22nd July, enabling new drivers to not only learn the car, but also the track, ahead of the race meeting which will count as rounds 11 and 12 of the Clio Cup season.
A one-off entrant's fee of £958.18 plus VAT underlines the opportunity as the most cost effective way of racing in the ELF Clio Renaultsport UK Cup this year. The new drivers will also be fully registered and eligible for championship points and prize money.
Championship Manager Simon North commented: "The Clio Cup is geared towards drivers who commit to a full season but this initiative gives people the chance to sample the series at our biggest meeting of the year. We believe having raced in Clio Cup new drivers will want to come back for more."
Commenting on the announcement, Aurok Motorsport's Jules Phillips said: "I think this is a marvellous idea and it's good to see Renault being so proactive in the marketing of the championship which is undoubtedly one of the very best in the UK. This announcement can only be a boost to the Clio Cup and I'm fully supportive of it."
SpeedEquipe Motorsport's Dave Older added: "We're a new team to the championship this year and this move will help to boost our exposure and profile. It's a very good opportunity to get more cars out there and so I'm certainly a supporter of that."
The once only offer solely applies to the DTM meeting and carries a closing date for potential entrants of Wednesday, 16th July.
