| AUROK MOTORSPORT SIGN SECOND DRIVER.
Hampshire based Aurok Motorsport today announced that they are to enter a second car in the Elf Clio Renaultsport UK Cup with effect from the Donnington Park DTM round.
Steve Wood, a 41 year old property developer from Gloucester, will join forces with current Aurok driver Vince Martin for the rest of the 2003 season. It is also planned that he will contest the winter series before embarking on a full Clio Cup championship campaign with the team in 2004.
Having previously competed in moto cross and gearbox karting events, the step up to full time saloon car racing in the popular one-make Renault Clio series may prove to be demanding at first, given that regulations restrict teams and drivers testing the car – but nevertheless it is a challenge that Steve is very much looking forward to.
Commenting on signing for Aurok Motorsport, Steve Wood said “I am delighted that Aurok have given me this opportunity. They have shown that they have the experience and expertise to help me to compete at the highest level. I am also looking forward to working with my team mate, Vince Martin. I know I will learn a great deal from him over the coming months”.
Aurok Motorsport team manager, Jules Phillips said “We are delighted to welcome Steve to the team. Even though he has not competed in saloon cars before, his previous experience and his determination has convinced us that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the not to distant future.”
Aurok are also in negotiations to field their 3rd car at the Donington Park DTM round in a one off deal but are not presently in a position to confirm the details.
