| CONTEST TO BECOME CLIO CUP RACER AIRS ON ITV1 TONIGHT
Motorsport UK, the weekly ITV1 magazine programme featuring the ELF Clio Renaultsport UK Cup and Formula Renault UK Championship, has teamed up with the Michelin Renault Scholarship and Tim Sugden Motorsport to arrange an amazing competition aimed at giving three lucky viewers a crack at racing in the 2004 Clio Cup.
Starting in tonight's broadcast, Thursday 18th September, which airs at 02.35 and features the ELF Clio Renaultsport UK Cup round from Croft, viewers watching the programme will be given the chance to enter the superb contest via a special text number - the prize being to enter round one of the Michelin Renault Scholarship in November free of charge.
Should any or all of the three winners make it through to round two of the competition continued participation will carry a cost of just under £200 as will entry to round three. From that point on, however, if a driver qualifies for subsequent stages of the competition this will be free of charge.
For those unable to catch tonight's edition of Motorsport UK the competition will also run next week, Thursday 25th September, while a website carrying further competition details, terms and conditions should go live on Friday morning, 19th September, at www.itv.com/motorsportuk
Race experience is irrelevant in the Michelin Renault Scholarship - if anything, judges will be aiming to hand the final prize of a drive in the 2004 ELF Clio Renaultsport UK Cup with the Tim Sugden Motorsport team to a complete novice.
Last year's winner of the scholarship Martin Brackenbury (Blidworth) has enjoyed a very good season in 2003 and heading to Oulton Park this weekend for the final round of the series he's 11th in the driver standings with three top six finishes to his credit. Previous winner Robert Huff (Stapleford), meanwhile, finished third in the 2002 championship taking seven podiums en route before winning the inaugural SEAT Cupra Championship this year.
