Daryl McDonald will take no further part in this seasons campaign after financial constraints forced him to withdraw from the series. A statement from the Will Hoy Hard Charger Award organisers reads:

'We regret to announce that the inaugural winner of the Will Hoy Hard Charger Award, Daryl McDonald will forfeit his Renault Clio Cup drive due to financial pressures.

McDonald was making his impact on the ELF / BTE Lawline Renault Clio Cup in more ways than one. However, while impressing and taking a podium finish in the first half of the season, he also suffered significant damage from on-track incidents. The most recent occurred during Round 11 of the championship at Croft where a blown engine and further bodywork damage exhausted McDonald’s accident damage budget for the season. As a result McDonald has little option but to forfeit his position as the Will Hoy Hard Charger for the rest of the year.
